Three questions for Daniel Lenderink Daniel Lenderink (37) is director and owner of Schiphol Travel International (60 employees, revenue EURO 65 mln). Is there a crisis in the business travel industry? From our editor
Amsterdam 1What will 2009 bring? Like the airline industry, the business travel industry will rapidly consolidate. The ability to distinguish itself will come to its right reach much more easily when further market segmentation develops. Our personal service is aimed at mid-sized to large multinationals, which see this type of service become scarce. For 2009 we foresee a further growth as a result of a bigger demand for such service.
2How was 2008?
In 2008, Schiphol Travel was again the fastest growing business travel organization in the Netherlands. The concept of high quality and personal service appeared to be a successful supply of demand in the market. The client also profited from lower flight rates, due to the high experience level of the employees. We noticed an increased call center “fatigue” with companies. This encouraged our growth, as the market is mainly focused on providing service through call centers.
3And the crisis?
Many companies are inclined to save on their travel budget. But it is exactly in this period when our added value is important to these companies. We think along with the client and through joint effort we can accomplish the maximum result from the travel budget. In other words, in this time of crisis, there is a need for a partner that thinks along with you.
